The German team, having made its FIA GT debut in 2004, took the first of its three straight Team titles in 2005.
This record performance came thanks to the displays of the MC12 and a faultless pit lane crew. Following its two consecutive wins in the 24 Hours of Spa (in 2005 and 2006), Vitaphone Racing Team’s Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels secured the Drivers’ crown in 2006, a success repeated by Thomas Biagi in 2007.
The team also contributed to Maserati winning the Manufacturers’ Cup in 2005 and 2007. This year the crew line ups were Michael Bartels/Thomas Biagi and Christian Montanari/Miguel Ramos. Michael Bartels was forced to miss two races (Silverstone and Bucharest) due to illness and was replaced by Mika Salo (Silverstone) and Fabrizio Gollin (Bucharest).
This year’s figures make startling reading with the outfit collecting 115 points in the Team series, Thomas Biagi in the Drivers’ championship on 61 and the three wins (at Silverstone, Oschersleben and Brno) proving once more that Vitaphone Racing Team is the team to beat in the FIA GT International championship.
